The tournament sanctioning has been approved by Fort Worth Metro with the following specification: This tournament is sanctioned for 10 teams.

This tournament is very near and dear to our hearts here in Keller. This is our 2nd Annual Mearl Crabill Scholarship Tournament. Thanks to all of the teams that played last year and made it a big success.

Who was Mearl Crabill?
Mearl was one of our rec. coaches here in Keller as well as serving on the Board of Directors. He has coached 13 different teams of 12U and 14U girls in the last 8 years. Those numbers don't add up, do they? Well, some years he coached a 12U and a 14U team at the same time. "Mearl's girls", and yes he thought of them that way, loved and respected him. He always had the most returning players of any of our rec. teams. This, to me, was the sign of a good coach. Mearl not only taught his girls the fundamentals of the game, but he also taught them to respect the game of softball, respect themselves, their teammates, coaches and the umpires. Mearl never found a girl that he couldn't teach to play the game. His teams always finished 1st or 2nd in the league. He also gave pitching and batting lessons in his back yard. None of this sounds that unusual, does it? Isn't this what a good coach is supposed to do? Well, here's "the rest of the story". Mearl did all of this from his wheelchair! He was a quadriplegic, injured in a diving accident 15 yrs. ago. Sadly, another tragic accident took him from us in November 2004. We set up a scholarship fund in his name to help softball players who maybe won't be able to get a scholarship to college. We hope to fund this scholarship with the fees from this tournament. The tournament will be run strictly by volunteers but we promise that you will still get a quality tournament.

Please come out and help us support a very worthy cause.
